Iran has told the US to release its frozen assets which are held in Qatar and in other foreign banks. U.S. official reports say that they have denied the Iranian demand. High-level diplomatic discussions took place on Saturday, April 11, 2026. U.S. Vice President JD Vance has arrived in Pakistan and met with Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad. The talks were also attended by U.S. representatives, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Pakistan’s Prime Minister expressed that this talk will bring peace in the region. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated that Islamabad hopes both the United States and Iran will engage in peace talks. He added that Pakistan remains committed to supporting and continuing to facilitate both US and Iran, so they can reach a long-term and sustainable resolution to the conflict.
Iranian officials said in the negotiation that the US should ensure a ceasefire in Lebanon and also release its frozen assets. On Friday, April 10, 2026, U.S. Vice President JD Vance warned Iran not to “play.” On the other side, U.S. President Donald Trump gave a strong commitment that they will open the Strait of Hormuz with or without Iran’s cooperation, and it will be their priority. He also said the Islamic republic cannot have a nuclear weapon.
